Beirut Is a Damsel in Distress

As defined by the dictionary, a damsel in distress is usually a beautiful young woman placed in a dire predicament by a villain or monster and is constantly in need of rescue by the dashing hero. Clearly Beirut is this archetypal character, we most definitely live in a country most would describe as fictional so why not portray its reality with a fairy tale that so well describes its situation. A young lady in much need of help, Beirut sits atop a soaring tower awaiting her rescuer but alas many have tried but to no avail. Beirut has become a festering petri dish and breeding ground for cranes, garbage and militias creating within it, a self sustained culture of pandemonium and self-destruction. Who would save our beloved Beirut when even super heroes have failed to do so!

This poster partook in the 100 Best Arabic Poster competition. An annual design competition collecting the best work of Arab designers from all around the region. It premiered in Amman Design Week and will continue exhibiting in other arab countries as part of a moving exhibition.
